However i had excellent luck using honeywell s continuous rope sensor it detects water that touches any portion of the cable as an extension for the old dch s160 and honeywell s newer extension cable for their lyric detector uses a 3 5mm jack just like the new d link so i gambled and bought both.
The dch s161 wi fi water sensor is battery powered and comes with a 1 8m 5 9 ft cable for easy placement anywhere in your house.
I thought it could be a low battery since it s been around a year but last time this happened i replaced the batteries with rechargeables and then tested the ones in it and they were still pretty much fully charged.

After returning from 3 week vacation i found that multiple of my motion sensors and water leak sensors are offline and rules that depend on them are not working.
I have activated the upgrade firmware ota setting in my hub.
They randomly go offline and i have to pull the battery to get them to reconnect.
